Shabbat in Memory of Yehonatan Doytch, Co-Founder of “Tikvatenu,” in His Hometown of Beit She’an
The entire Shabbat was shaped in Yehonatan’s spirit, centered around his pioneering character, which served as a true model through his life. It was held in partnership with, and hosted by, his beloved family and his fiancée, Emunah.
As part of the Shabbat, the young participants connected to the region where Yehonatan grew up. We began with a dip at Ein Shokek and a tour of the Valley of Springs led by Itzik Rahamim, Yehonatan’s former teacher. For the Shabbat meal, we were hosted by local families who opened both their homes and their hearts.
We spoke late into the night about what pioneering means today and the kind of Zionist action that is needed in these times.
We concluded the Shabbat with a talk by Uri Doytch, Yehonatan’s father and the head of Yemin Orde School, on education as a pioneering act.
